I used ...

I cannot believe the 'spin' from Spinvox. I used to work for a company that transcribed messages for Spinvox. No messages are transcribed by computer. The application is called Tenzing and it downloads the voicemessage, allows the operator to listen, rewind, type and release the message which is sent via an internal SMTP engine back to the Spinvox servers. There are a number of transcription centres around the world but a lot of these use staff who's first and sometimes second landuage is not English.

One such company who's staff do speak English as their first language is Celtic in Ireland but you will see it was recently bought by a British company called Spinvox...

So many voicemails are left by people testing the service that the predictive text system already has such words as supercalifragilisticxpalidocious and antidisestablishmentarism in the dictionery.

I have to admit, the predictive text is funky and does work quite well but the stories about most of the messages being transcribed by computer belong in 'The Bumper Book of Fairytales'.

We used to have a laugh with the voicemails, from broken hearts. When someone is dumped, the 'dumper' usually puts their phone on to voicemail so we would transcribe these and laugh at the misery - I know, it's not nice but we had to do something to cheer us up.

You also hear highly confidential voicemail, including ones about insider information, corporate buy-outs and other such information that could be worth a lot of money to someone, just a pity we don't know who that someone is.

Anyway, stop believing the Spin and just ask yourself how long it took to set up and how accurate is your home voice recognition software. I still have problems after 6 months but they expect you to believe they can transcribe these automatically. Is that Java I can smell?

Having interviewed them for All About Symbian, the...

Having interviewed them for All About Symbian, the majority is voice recognition, but they have a flag when the software flags something "squirrely" to be passed over to teh 'real people' to do an actual transcription.

http://www.allaboutsymbian.com/media/item/AAS_Podcast_11_Spin_Voxs_Text_to_Blog_Post_Tool.php

Hendry: Grand central provides that service for yo...

Hendry: Grand central provides that service for you.
